Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Reviews & Ratings

Nicole W. Meza's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Savannah, GA: - January 23, 2012
I love that this refrigerator is rated as a #1 brand for side by side refrigerators. That was one of the reasons why I decided to buy this refrigerator. It has yet given me any problems and it's overall very easy to use/maintain
Sandy's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Ceresco, MI: - January 16, 2012
I really like the in door storage for milk and sodas. I also like the adjustable shelves. My son likes to put half full glasses of juice in the fridge so we really like the spill-proof shelves. It's great only having to clean one shelf instead of the entire fridge. When i bought the fridge i was really set on the in door ice maker. in hindsight maybe the one in the top of the freezer is better. Overall i am happy with this fridge and would recommend it.
Crowbar 's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from n/a: - January 16, 2012
We love our new refrigerator with features usually found on higher end models. Filtered water is only one of the features that make this product outstanding
jojo41 's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Cutler Bay, FL: - January 16, 2012
I have enjoyed owning this refrigerator since February, 2011. It is so easy to clean. I especially like it because when I open the refrigerator door, I can see the location of everything inside; same way with the freezer!
anonymous's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Cardiff, AL: - January 16, 2012
The good things about the refrigerator include the fingerprint-less finish (mono satina), the easy-to- access ice maker and the ample slide out storage bins. it performs well. It's very well lit and keeps things cold.
SusanB 's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Cardiff, AL: - January 16, 2012
I bought extra door bins so that all condiments can be stored in the door and not "lost" in the back. It has great capacity and the whole family is loving the ice maker and being able to choose between cubed and crushed ice. I even love the feel of the door handles, smooth and sleek and don't stick out too far.
kats77 's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Monroe, NJ: - January 16, 2012
I have been pleased with this purchase. all things are cold & freezes good too
grandmothergoose 's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Franklin, Virginia: - January 16, 2012
We replaced a 20+ year old top freezer fridge and were looking for a change. In May, we purchased this side- by-side in black, which is very sleek and stylish looking (I think stainless is a fad and a bit high maintainance). I like the taller height of the doors so that you don't see the hinges. The fridge side is very spacious, and the spill proof shelves have already been put to the test. The butter keeper is huge. It holds my two cut crystal butter dishes, and two plastic tubs of butter. The water filter is conveniently located above the top shelf; no crawling on my knees to replace one on the floor level. The lighting is awesome! I love a well lit interior. The adjustable door shelving is very adequate; I love the larger shelf in the door my milk and juices; very handy. The freezer side is also very well lit and has ample space. I was hesitant about the glass shelves in the freezer, as I was used to wire shelves, but I really like the glass shelves. It could really use one more shelf. I like the ice container in the door; it is very easy to remove when needed. The ice maker is a little bit noisy and a tad slow, but I have become accustomed to it now. I love the bright blue lighting on the exterior. The ice maker and water dispenser are great. The grandkids love the crushed ice feature. I love this Whirlpool refrigerator!
brlafriend's Whirlpool GSF26C4EXY Review from Baton Rouge, LA: - January 15, 2012
Regarding purchasing & delivery: This was the easiest purchase process ever. The price was several hundred dollars lower than even the pre-Christmas sale prices of others. The guys who delivered it were awesome! They were efficient, courteous, and went above and beyond when we had space issue and needed to remove the door to get the refrigerator in - even though I was told when I bought the fridge that they would not assist in doing that kind of thing, they did. I can't say enough good stuff about them. Regarding the refrigerator itself: I love, love, love this refrigerator! It's so much bigger than my last one, I can't fill it up. It's gorgeous - makes the whole kitchen sparkle. The glass shelves in the fridge also keep things more stable so nothing falls through like in the old one where we had the wire shelves. That's huge for us due to my and my husband's clumsiness! The in-door ice maker is phenomenal. It takes up no space in the freezer so we have all the shelf space we could need. The filtered water in the door is a huge blessing, as I've been filtering water in the Brita pitcher, using about 3 pitchers a day and constantly refilling. No more filtering pitchers!

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.

How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covered.

How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.

Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.

What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.

Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.

May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covered product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.

Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.

Refrigerators are long-term appliance investments so you'll want to carefully consider the main aspects of buying this refrigerator to ensure that it meets your family's needs and you'll be able to enjoy the refrigerator for the next few years. Whether you're buying a refrigerator for the very first time or replacing an older refrigerator model, these tips will help you be better prepared to start shopping for a refrigerator.

Are There Installation Limitations for the Refrigerator?
Installation of Refrigerator

The first refrigerator consideration - measure the area where you will position the refrigerator. Is there sufficient room for full door swing/opening? Measuring is especially important when replacing a refrigerator to ensure the new one fits between counters or under overhead cabinets like the previous one. Take the maximum measurements when you shop for a refrigerator and allow space for hinges and leveling. Review your home's entry to the kitchen to be sure you'll be able to get your purchase in. You'll need an electrical outlet and also plumbing if you are buying a refrigerator with ice and water dispenser?

What Type Of Refrigerator Can Be Installed?

While reviewing where you to install your new refrigerator, you can decide what type you prefer or would fit into your kitchen layout and budget. Types of refrigerators require different installations. A counter-depth model is usually wider than a same-capacity freestanding unit and can give your kitchen a custom look for less outlay than a built-in model. Available types:

What Style or Model Do You Prefer?

Refrigerator style is a matter of preference and convenience, but you should consider installation limitations when choosing a style since clearances may vary. An All Refrigerator model does not have a freezer but has the best capacity. This may suit your home if you have a freezer close at hand. A Top Mount model has an upper freezer, with or without a separate door. A Bottom Freezer model has either a drawer/bin or shelf style freezer on the bottom. A Side by Side has a freezer on one side and refrigerator on the other. A French Door model has two refrigerated top sections with a freezer on the bottom.

What Capacity Does Your Family Need?

Once you've established installation, type and style, you can decide on capacity. If this will be your main refrigerator, size this appliance to meet your family's needs. Buying an overly large refrigerator which may remain partially empty will only use more kitchen space and increase purchase and energy costs. If you're buying a spare or beverage refrigerator, a compact model under 11 cu. ft. refrigerators. may be sufficient. A 14 cu. ft refrigerator can be adequate for a family of 4, but a 18 - 22 cu. ft refrigeratoror higher would be better for a large family. If you have a vegetable garden, a larger refrigerator would be very convenient.

Refrigerator Finishes & Existing Kitchen Decor

You should give some thought to whether you are looking for Black, White, colored, stainless or other exterior finishes. What finish will fit better into your existing kitchen decor? Do you prefer the same brand as your range? You may want to compliment your existing appliances by choosing a similar finish. If you have small children, finishes that are easy to keep clean or limit fingerprints may be more suitable. A pebbly white finish is easy to keep clean and can help to 'hide' scratches rather than a smooth glossy white exterior.

Choosing Refrigerator Features

The best feature is Frost-Free operation and do not assume that every refrigerator today is frost-free but confirm before purchasing. Here are other available features:

When Considering Refrigerator Features

A base model refrigerator generally has 1-2 drawers, wire shelving, non-adjustable shelves/bins and may only have a partial shelf in the freezer. Although a base model will provide sufficient refrigeration needs, features are really nice to have but greatly influence the price. If you would seldom use a Through-the-Door Water & Ice Dispenser, why pay more for this feature? On the other hand, it could encourage your family to drink water more often, but this feature will influence the price and require plumbing hook-up. Replacing with a taller model may require custom re-building or removing overhead cabinets.

Enhanced Features & Other Considerations

Some models have customizable digital displays, flat panel TV mounted on the door front, or built-in filtration for the water dispenser. Bottom freezer models have various designs such as slide-out drawer/bin or interior shelving. Built-in models may have optional panels to blend with your decor. You may want to consider purchasing an extended warranty for a higher priced appliance investment, and you'll need to make disposal decisions for the old model. Landfills generally have rules in place regarding preparing refrigerators and freezers for disposals as well as tipping fees for large appliances.
